Bath Walks Home


Kirsten Elliott regularly presents a wide range of talks to groups, societies and conference delegates and is always happy to discuss new ideas for future presentations. The list below give will an idea of the range of subjects on offer. (Talks marked with an asterisk * include slides)

Sydney Gardens     For visiting groups, there is An Introduction to Bath* which looks at the city's history and features attractions that can be seen today.
For Bath residents, So you think you know Bath? takes a look at aspects of the city often overlooked.
Another popular subject is The Lost Inns of Bath.
Other talks include Windows and Things*, Georgian Pleasure Gardens* and Rocky and Mountainous Ways*, which shows how dangerous it was to make a journey to Bath in the eighteenth century.

In Beckford's Secret Garden* Kirsten Elliott presents her research into this legendary garden which only existed for about 30 years but has retained its hold on the imagination.
A Year at Stourhead* shows the changes that each month brings to the famous landscape garden, while Costume & Cosmetics in the Eighteenth Century draws on research undertaken as a member of the Bath Minuet Company.
A Walk Along the Kennet & Avon Canal* travels along the 86-mile canal from Reading to Hanham, looking at such diverse topics as lock operation, restoration and wild flowers.
The Story of the Kennet & Avon Canal* and The Somerset Coal Canal* tell the story of these two fascinating waterways.
A Walk along the Cotswold Way* and A Walk Along the Ridgeway* cover two of the long distance footpaths in the area.
